Theatre Summer Camp at Firebox!

Creative Dramatics & Character Building

Imagination, discovery & play are the drumbeat of Creative Dramatics & Character Building at Firebox this summer! Your child will learn theatre skills through exploration & teamwork as they play group games, explore new stories and create their own original character! The camp will culminate in a showcase for family and friends.

Duels, Dance & Drama: Shakespeare!

July 15th-19th

Rising 6th-10th Graders

Monday-Friday, 10:00AM-2:00PM

“To camp or not to camp…”, well we say “YES” to Shakespeare camp at Firebox Theatre this summer! Your student will Duel with the basics of stage sword fighting, Dance traditional Elizabethan routines and perform the Drama of Shakespeare’s plays. The camp will culminate in a showcase for family and friends.

Imagination and play will be the vehicle that leads to the discovery of theatre fundamentals! In this 8-week session, children will explore pantomime, story, and characters. The class will culminate with a showcase where family and friends are invited to come and see what they have been learning.

Students will exercise their creativity through ensemble work with on-your-feet activities. Breakout creative writing sessions will allow your child to discover characters, dialogue, and building a storyline. This 8-week class will culminate with a short play written, performed, and produced by the students!

Meet our Teaching Artists

Cora Hemphill found her love for teaching at Unity Theatre in Brenham, TX where she was on staff as Education Development and Outreach Manager. Through this experience, she brought workshops to Title 1 schools, started a partnership with the Boys & Girls Club, facilitated Guest Artist Workshops, and taught homeschool acting classes as well as summer theatre camps. Outreach is exciting to Cora! She is a certified TimeSlips facilitator and has lead story making sessions with Alzheimer's patients. For several years, Cora toured with Books Alive!, a children's theatre, in schools, libraries and hospitals throughout Houston, TX. She is also a mom of two, an eleven and fourteen-year-old. Cora is excited to bring her expertise to Firebox Theatre Company!

Jenni Elion is a veteran improviser based in Raleigh, NC. Jenni has performed with improvisers from around the country at Camp Improv Utopia in the Poconos and was a guest performer with ComedySportz in St. Louis, MO. Her improv career started in 2012 at ComedyWorx, where she still performs monthly in shortform shows. Jenni has studied under notable improvisors including Brian James O'Connell, Craig Cackowski, Bill Arnett, David Razowsky, and Louis Kornfeld and looks forward to sharing the wisdom she's picked up on her own improv journey.

New Class Offering!

Adult Acting Class, Acting Part 1, will be taught by Firebox Producer and Co-Founder Tim Artz!

Have you ever wondered how actors can laugh, cry, and rage at will? Sign up for this course and begin a journey that will change your life! Focus is on moment-to-moment life, impulses, and emotional preparation through a series of steps and exercises that are then applied to scenes.

This class is offered in collaboration with Wake Tech Community College.

Experience class in a 65-seat black box theatre!

Classes will be held at The Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Center, home of Firebox Theatre Company, at 306 S. White St. in Downtown Wake Forest.
